Reactive Solids — Class 4.3

Metal Deuterides

LiD, ErD2, TiD2, and LiH are air- and moisture-reactive solids used as fusion and neutron-target materials, deuterium sources, and precursors for deuterated reagents such as LiAlD4. They are DOT-regulated hazardous materials handled through a quote flow.

  • Quote-only with a stated lead time (typically ~2–3 weeks; ErD2 faster from stock).
  • Prepared to DOT requirements with scheduled hazmat pickup.
  • Natural-abundance isotopics only — no Li-6 enrichment.

Solutions — Class 8

Deuteroxides in D2O

LiOD, NaOD, KOD, RbOD, and CsOD are supplied as solutions in deuterium oxide. They are the workhorse bases for NMR buffer prep, H/D exchange, isotope labeling, and deuterated pharmaceutical intermediates.

  • Low-friction Class 8 shipping; small quantities may move as Limited Quantity.
  • Available at customer-specified concentration in D2O.
  • RbOD and CsOD fill a gap with no reliable commercial source.

Sealed-Environment Production & Characterization

BSI produces deuterides by controlled reaction of the parent metal with deuterium under sealed-environment pressure and flow control. The same process generalizes across lanthanides, transition metals, and light-element metals, which is what lets us take on made-to-order compounds beyond the standard catalog.

Materials are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and FTIR through our Texas Tech University and CEES relationships, so you receive documented phase and morphology data rather than an unverified powder.

DOT hazmat handling

Reactive deuterides ship as Class 4.3 hazmat with scheduled pickup; deuteroxide solutions ship as Class 8. An SDS accompanies every product page.

Lead times

Made-to-order compounds typically ship ~2–3 weeks after a confirmed order. In-stock ErD2 ships faster, after standard hazmat prep.
