Made to Order — Class 4.3 Hydride

Lithium Hydride (LiH) Supplier

Lithium hydride is a light-metal hydride — LiH (CAS 7580-67-8) — with very high gravimetric hydrogen content. It is a classic hydrogen-storage material, a strong reducing agent, and the precursor to lithium aluminum hydride (LiAlH4) and its deuterated analogue LiAlD4.

BSI produces lithium hydride to order in the United States under sealed-environment pressure and flow control, characterized by XRD, SEM, and FTIR. As an air- and moisture-reactive Class 4.3 solid it is handled through a quote flow, prepared to DOT requirements, and shipped within the United States only. For the deuterated analogue, see our lithium deuteride (LiD) page.

Questions

Lithium Hydride FAQ

What is lithium hydride used for?

LiH is used for hydrogen and deuterium storage research, as a reducing agent, as a precursor to LiAlH4 and LiAlD4, and in shielding applications.

What is the CAS number for lithium hydride?

The CAS number for lithium hydride is 7580-67-8.

How does lithium hydride ship?

LiH is an air- and moisture-reactive Class 4.3 hazardous material. It ships quote-based, made to order, to US destinations only, prepared to DOT requirements with scheduled hazmat pickup.

Does BSI also supply lithium deuteride?

Yes. BSI supplies lithium deuteride (LiD), the deuterated analogue of lithium hydride, at natural isotopic abundance, alongside a full line of metal deuterides and deuteroxides.
