Made to Order — Natural Abundance Only

Lithium Deuteride (LiD) Supplier

Lithium deuteride is the deuterated analogue of lithium hydride — LiD (CAS 13587-16-1) — a light-metal deuteride with exceptionally high deuterium density. It is a benchmark target and fuel material for fusion and high-energy-density research and a versatile precursor for deuterated reagents.

BSI produces lithium deuteride to order in the United States at natural isotopic abundance, under sealed-environment pressure and flow control, and characterized by XRD, SEM, and FTIR. As an air- and moisture-reactive Class 4.3 solid it is handled through a quote flow, prepared to DOT requirements, and shipped within the United States only.

Natural-abundance only. BSI does not produce or sell lithium-6 enriched LiD, which is subject to export and security controls. All material is supplied for lawful US end use.

Questions

Lithium Deuteride FAQ

What is lithium deuteride used for?

LiD is used as a target and fuel material for fusion and high-energy-density research, as a deuterium and energy storage material, and as a precursor for deuterated reagents such as LiAlD4, deuterated solvents, and polymers.

What is the CAS number for lithium deuteride?

The CAS number for lithium deuteride is 13587-16-1.

Does BSI sell lithium-6 enriched lithium deuteride?

No. BSI supplies natural-abundance lithium deuteride only. We do not produce or sell lithium-6 enriched LiD, which is subject to export and security controls.

How does lithium deuteride ship?

LiD is an air- and moisture-reactive Class 4.3 hazardous material. It ships quote-based, made to order, to US destinations only, prepared to DOT requirements with scheduled hazmat pickup.
