Option-License Commercialization
BSI is advancing this technology under an option license and is accepting quote requests and waitlist interest. Availability, lead time, and commercial terms are confirmed for each inquiry.
Potassium Deuteroxide (KOD) Supplier
Potassium deuteroxide is the deuterated analogue of potassium hydroxide — KOD (also written potassium hydroxide-d) — supplied as a solution in deuterium oxide (D2O), commonly at 40 wt%. It provides a potassium-cation deuteroxide base for H/D exchange and deuterated synthesis without introducing exchangeable protons.
BSI produces potassium deuteroxide to order in the United States at customer-specified concentration and isotopic purity, characterized through our Texas Tech University and CEES relationships. As a Class 8 solution it ships far more easily than reactive metal deuterides. Orders are quote-based and shipped within the United States only.
Applications
What Potassium Deuteroxide Is Used For
H/D Exchange
A strong deuterated base for base-catalyzed hydrogen/deuterium exchange reactions in D2O media.
Isotope Labeling
A potassium-cation deuteroxide source for site-selective deuterium labeling workflows.
Base Catalysis
A deuterated base for base-catalyzed steps in deuteration chemistry where a potassium counterion is preferred.
Deuterated Synthesis
A base for deuterated intermediate preparation and exchange reactions in NMR and labeling workflows.
Questions
Potassium Deuteroxide FAQ
What is potassium deuteroxide used for?
KOD is a strong deuterated base used for base-catalyzed H/D exchange, isotope labeling, base catalysis in deuteration reactions, and deuterated synthesis. It is commonly supplied as a 40 wt% solution in D2O.
What concentration is potassium deuteroxide supplied at?
KOD is most commonly supplied as a 40 wt% solution in D2O, with other concentrations available on request. Exact concentration and isotopic purity are confirmed per quote.
Is potassium deuteroxide the same as potassium hydroxide-d?
Yes. KOD is the fully deuterium-substituted form of potassium hydroxide, sometimes written potassium hydroxide-d or KOH-d.
Does BSI ship potassium deuteroxide internationally?
No. BSI sells to US destinations only. Every order requires a US ship-to address and a lawful US end-use confirmation.

Potassium deuteroxide, made to order.
Tell us the concentration (e.g. 40 wt% in D2O), isotopic purity, and quantity you need. We reply with pricing, current lead time, and the SDS. Class 8 solutions ship far more easily than reactive deuterides.
